About

My father and I watched the first few episodes of the tv show "Forged in Fire" and immediately showed great interest in knifemaking. In about 2016, we made a makeshift forge out of bricks, kale wool, and a hair dryer. This began my journey of metalworking. I started off by making metal leaves, different hooks, and various decorative items. For multiple years, I continued making simple things out of metal that brought me joy. In about 2019 when everything was down from the pandemic and we were stuck at home, my father had started making knives more, and I was quite interested in it myself. My first knife was nothing to write home about, but it was a start. I began an Instagram account to post my knives under the name of KW Knives. My father is BW Knives, so it was an obvious name. My logo was his logo, but it had a K. I decided that I wanted to brand myself as me, rather than copying my dad and piggybacking off of his brand. I created my own logo.

I am from Halls Crossroads in Knoxville, Tennessee, so I used this for my name and logo. Over the last few years, I have improved my skills and made my processes more efficient. I have taken my passion that I originally started for fun to another level. The biggest event in my journey so far has been a booth at Bladeshow 2022 - where I met many people in the knifemaking community and even sold some knives! I will continue to attend knife shows around Knoxville, Tennessee and meet awesome people and hopefully sell some knives. I am interested to see where knifemaking will take me, I have plenty of time to find out, seeing as I am only 17.
